Verena Jackson is a Legal Advisor and Researcher/Lecturer at the Center for Intelligence & Security Studies (CISS) at the University of the Armed Forces of Germany (UniBw). She is a founding attorney of a Germany based law firm, advising international clients in Information Technology and Privacy Law. At the University of the Armed Forces of Germany (UniBw) she was elected for Deputy Commissioner for Equal Opportunities.
Verena is a Fellow at Stanford University´s Transatlantic Technology Forum and a member the of Young Leaders Network for the Defense of Democracy of the Axel Springer Foundation.
She studied law, with a focus on International and European Law, and Legal Informatics in Germany and Spain. Before joining the University of the Armed Forces of Germany (UniBw), she worked for international law firms and the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Garmisch-Partenkirchen Germany (a partnership research institute of the German and US Military).
Verena has additional training in American law from the 7th Army JMTC Staff Judge Advocate and was a Visting Scholar at Duke University, Durham USA.
Her academic research and expertise for the German Federal Ministry of Defense focus on legal and policy aspects of the use of AI and emerging technologies in the military, cyber operations and legal interoperability in military operations.
