Simon J. Smith is a Lecturer of International Relations in theFaculty of Arts and Creative Technologies at Staffordshire University. Simon’s doctoral research was an investigation of EU-NATO cooperation through both the ‘formal’ mechanism of Berlin Plus and alternative ‘informal’ structures. He is currently dissemination research based on an ESRC-funded project ‘The Drivers of Military Strategic Reform in the Face of Economic Crisis and Changing Warfare’ from his time as a Research Officer at the University of Bath. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Scotland Institute and an Honorary Research Fellow at Aston University.
