Dr Nina Caspersen’s research focuses on the dynamics of intra-state conflicts, strategies for conflict resolution, and unrecognised states. Her work is comparative in nature, with a particular focus on the Caucasus and the Balkans. Her articles have appeared in several leading academic journals and her latest book is Unrecognized States: The Struggle for Sovereignty in the Modern International System (Cambridge: Polity, 2012). She was recently awarded a British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship (2014/15) for her project ‘Peace Agreements: Resolving intra-state conflicts since the end of the Cold War’.
