Ludovica Castelli is a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Leicester within the ERC-funded project ‘The Third Nuclear Age’. Within the project, and under the supervision of Prof. Andrew J. Futter, she focuses on the nuclear history of the Middle East. More specifically, she investigates the impact of Israel’s nuclear programme on the regional proliferation dynamics, and on the regional attitude vis à vis the nonproliferation regime.

Ludovica previously worked as Policy Analyst at Centro Studi Internazionali (Ce.S.I.) in Rome and as Research Assistant at the George C. Marshall Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Ludovica holds a Master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Trento – MEIS, and has a Bachelor degree in International Economics from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

Ludovica Castelli writes that we should not measure the impact of AUKUS simply by whether other would-be proliferators exploit the precedent it has set but by the bigger questions it raises about the credibility of the non-proliferation regime.
