James Nathan is Khalid bin Sultan Eminent Scholar, Auburn University at Montgomery. He is a former Foreign Service officer and has held senior posts at the Naval War College, the Army War College, the University of Delaware and Johns Hopkins. Some of his most recent positions include Senior Distinguished Fulbright Professor in Beijing at China’s most senior diplomatic institution (The Foreign Affairs University of China), and SyCip Distinguished Fulbright Professor in Manila. He has been a senior Distinguished Fulbright Professor in Australia and a Fulbright Alumni Fellow in Beijing, as well as program director of the State Department’s Asian leadership course in Hong Kong.
