David McAllister

MEP, Chair of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee

David McAllister is a German lawyer and politician. He has been a member of the European Parliament since July 2014, where he serves as the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET). He also chairs the European Parliament’s UK Coordination Group (UKCG). In October 2015, McAllister was elected Vice President of the European People’s Party (EPP). He is also the Vice Chairman of the International Democrat Union (IDU).

His political career started in 1998 becoming a Member of the State Parliament of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) until 2014. From 2003 till 2010 he served as Chairman of the CDU Group in the State Parliament of Niedersachsen. He served as Prime Minister of Niedersachsen from 2010 till 2013.
