On 6th July 2020, the parties to the Open Skies Treaty convened to discuss the U.S. withdrawal and the future of the Treaty. In her interview for the Pravda daily (in Slovak), ELN Policy Fellow Katarina Kertysova explains the value added of the treaty for its European member states, including Slovakia, and what they can do to save it.

The ELN has issued a group statement, signed by 16 former high ranking military and defence figures from across Europe, urging all parties to remain in the agreement.
Last month it was reported that President Trump had signed a letter signalling the United States’ intention to withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty. If true, this would weaken US security.
